Overview

Bronchiectasis is a chronic lung condition characterized by irreversible widening and thickening of the bronchial tubes, leading to a buildup of mucus and recurrent infections. This condition impairs the lungs' ability to clear mucus effectively, resulting in symptoms such as chronic cough, excessive sputum production, and recurrent respiratory infections. Treatment aims to manage symptoms, clear airway secretions, prevent complications, and improve quality of life through medications, airway clearance techniques, pulmonary rehabilitation, and, in some cases, surgery.
